USA Passport Holders

• A Passport Book is required for air travel; a Passport Card or other land/sea WHTI-compliant ID can be used at border crossings or on cruises. 
   
• Passport must be valid for the entire trip; no additional six-month validity required by Mexico, but airlines may have their own rules
   
• Tourist Card (FMM): Mandatory for all travelers—even on land/sea. is Please fill it out online or at the airport/INM office; single entry for up to 180 days. Some airports require a printed copy
   

• A Passport Book is required for returning by air. For land or sea (including returning cruise ships), you can use:
   
  • Valid Passport Card
     
  • Enhanced driver’s license
     
  • Trusted Traveler cards (e.g. SENTRI)
     
  • For ages <16 (or <19 in supervised groups): birth certificate + photo ID
• As a U.S. citizen, you always have the right to return, but air carriers require a valid passport book to board .
